MBALE CITY

Umaru Nangoli, the former National Resistance Movement (NRM) MP flag bearer for Northern City Division in Mbale City, has spoken out about the party’s tribunal ruling that stripped him of his flag bearer position.

The tribunal, in a ruling dated August 22, 2025, declared Hudu Hussein the duly elected NRM flag bearer for the constituency.

According to the tribunal, the initial lead of 591 votes by Nangoli was overturned after the petitioner, Hudu Hussein, successfully challenged the results.

The tribunal claimed that votes from Namabasa Zone Three were not genuine, resulting in Hussein taking the lead with a margin of 336 votes.

In a phone interview, on Sunday, 24th August, 2025, Nangoli disputed the tribunal’s allegations, stating that they were unfounded.

He argued that the tribunal should have considered the voters’ register rather than relying solely on declaration forms, which he believed did not provide a clear decision.

Nangoli revealed that he has already petitioned the tribunal regarding the ruling and is awaiting a response. If the outcome is unfavorable, he hinted that he will explore further action to contest the decision.

Getting a comment from Hudu Hussain by press time was futile because he did not pick our repeated calls.
