MBALE CITY
Fresh details have emerged on how a popular Mbale City Music Master of Ceremonies was stabbed to death by a jilted girlfriend on the night of Tuesday, 9th September, 2025.
The Elgon region Police Spokesperson, SP Rogers Taitika has in a statement issued today, 10th September, identified the deceased as Wanambwa Jonathan, a.k.a Gavin, a music MC at Oak Bar located in Namakwekwe, Northern City Division.
Taitika says Wanambwa was stabbed by one of his girlfriends identified only as Namono at around 9:00PM at his rented house at Muyembe Cell, Maluku Ward, Industrial Division, Mbale City.
HOW THE MURDER UNFOLDED
According to Taitika, at around 9:00PM, a one Hellya Sonia, a girlfriend to Wanambwa came to the deceased home because he had invited her.
However, when she entered the house, she found another lady later identified as Namono whom she didn’t know, seated on the bed.
When Namono saw her (Sonia) she started quarrelling with the deceased which prompted the deceased to instruct the suspect (Namono) to move out of his house.
Sonia, who was an eyewitness at that moment says in that struggle, she saw Namono pulling out a sharp object and allegedly stabbed the deceased at his back.
The deceased alarmed, and the alarm attracted the neighbours who effected the arrest of Namono. They found when the deceased was lying down in a pool of blood outside their rented house.
The neighbors including a boda boda rider rushed the deceased to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead.
At the time of reporting, the suspect was being held at Mbale Central Police Station.
