News coming in from Katonga indicate that the opposition political party, People’s Front for freedom (PFF) will backup Gen. Mugisha Muntu for presidency in next general elections.
Earlier on Monday, 15th September, 2025, PFF announced that it will not be fielding a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections, instead prioritizing talks aimed at forming a united opposition front.
Speaking at the press briefing, PFF spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju said the party was engaged in discussions with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) to identify and back a joint candidate.
Shortly, it emerged that talks between Mugisha Muntu’s ANT and PFF were in advanced stages and the decision has been taken.
The move is expected to significantly reshape opposition dynamics, as political observers have long argued that divided opposition parties weaken their chances against the ruling establishment.
The development comes at a time when calls for opposition unity have intensified, with civil society groups, religious leaders, and political activists urging parties to rally behind a single contender to increase the chances of electoral success.
