Centenary Bank has launched a post Merchant machine in the Eastern region to facilitate electronic transactions at business points.
The machine is used by customers to make payments using Visa electronic cards, eliminating the need for hard cash transactions.
Customers can make payments of particular purchased commodities by deducting money directly from their bank accounts using ATM Visa cards which can reduce the risk of fraud, theft, and carrying cash.
Patrick Woniala Gidoi, the Centenary Bank Regional Control Specialist who represented regional bank manager, says they are rolling out this digital post Merchant machine to ease transactions and enable tourists and foreigners to make payments easily using their ATM Visa cards.
He says that they are targeting busy business points like Petrol Stations, Supermarkets, markets, Taxi Parks among others.
Annet Nandelenga, the Centenary Bank Branch Manager Mbale City, emphasized the importance of embracing digital technology to avoid risks associated with direct hard cash transactions.
Emmanuel Masa, the manager of Abra Supermarket, has already adopted the technology, citing the benefits of improved customer service and reduced risks.
He encourages customers to embrace this technology to avoid carrying cash and minimize risks.
