NAMISINDWA
The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations in Namisindwa District have registered an impressive 99.3% attendance rate, according to a report compiled by the District Inspector of Schools, Lusayi Willian.
Out of 1,842 candidates registered across 16 examination centres, 1,830 students turned up for the national exams, with only 12 absentees recorded.
According to Lusayi’s report, seven government-aided schools and one government seed school registered a total of 1,305 candidates, of whom 1,299 sat for the exams. Meanwhile, eight private secondary school centres registered 457 candidates, with six absent on the first day.
The report further indicates that eight of the 12 absentees were girls, with most cases attributed to early marriage and domestic labour.
Speaking on the findings, Emma Bwayo, the LCV NRM Flagbearer for Namisindwa, urged parents to prioritize education and support their children to stay in school.
“Education remains the key to success. As leaders, we must prioritize the education sector because it’s the bedrock for the next generation,” Bwayo said.
The UCE examinations, administered by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), officially commenced this week across the country.
