The territorial police in Budaka have initiated investigations into a case of murder by mob, CRB 490/2025, which occurred at Naigumya Village, Budaka Town Council, on October 15, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m.

The case was reported by Itakali Wilber, a 57-year-old male adult and chairperson of the LC 1, Naigumya Village, Budaka Town Council.

According to ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the deceased was identified as Sisye Paul, a 35-year-old male adult and resident of the same village.

He says it’s alleged that on October 13, 2025, five cows were stolen by unknown persons in Naigumya Village. Sisye, feeling guilty, visited Mbulambago’s home, the owner of the stolen cows, who was publicly accusing him of the theft.

The LC 1 chairperson had organized a meeting to establish the truth, as the deceased had mentioned that a cousin had informed him that people were suspecting him. However, the meeting did not take place, and the chairperson decided to report the matter to the police.

On his way to the police station, he encountered a large group of Boda Boda riders heading towards the village. The police and the chairperson rushed to the village, only to find that the mob had killed Sisye.

Kyempasa says a team of police officers from Budaka Central Police Station, along with the Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO), visited and documented the scene.

The body was retrieved and conveyed to Budaka Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination. Statements were recorded from witnesses, exhibits used in the killing were recovered, and a PF 48 form was issued.

The police condemn the act of mob justice, which hinders investigations, and urge the public to always report matters to the relevant authorities.
