BULAMBULI

Former Energy minister Hon. Eng Nafuna Irene Muloni, the current woman member of Parliament for Bulambuli district, has confirmed that she will contest as a member of Parliament for Elgon North County in Bulambuli district in the 2026 General elections.
Eng Muloni turns to Elgon North County after losing in the NRM party primaries where she earlier contested as a woman member of Parliament for Bulambuli District but was defeated by Sarah Wekomba.
Running as an independent candidate, Hon. Muloni says her wealth of experience, both in government and in Parliament, positions her to uplift the livelihoods of her constituents in Elgon North.
While addressing hundreds of her voters at Buginyanya Sub county on her homecoming Event on Thursday, 16th, October 2025, Minister Muloni stressed that she came back to see that Bulambuli continues to benefit from the National Development and the desire to continue serving her people of Bulambuli District particularly in Elgon North county.
She urged the people of Elgon North County to entrust her for the better service delivering and good fruits to come.
“Because Elgon North county is my Constituency. This is my role. This is where I come from. I am here to serve you.” She said.
Earlier in her career, Eng. Muloni served the country in the energy sector for nearly three decades, rising from Executive Engineer in 1991 to Managing Director of Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited. This blend of technical, managerial, and political experience, she says, will now be channeled toward transforming Elgon North Constituency.
Hon. Muloni stresses that due to the irregularities of voter bribery and vote rigging in the primaries of National Resistance Movement, Party Elections will make many senior members of the party will run as independent in the 2026 General elections.
Hon Eng. Muloni, in the same vein, donated an ambulance to the people of Elgon North that mainly attached to Buginyanya HC IV
“When my people shared with me their challenges, the number one challenge that they asked me was they wanted an ambulance.” Hon. Muloni said.
She pledged to lobby for electricity to all Sub counties in Elgon North County and other government programs so that they can add value to what they are producing and improve their livelihoods.
“So my coming home is because I want to be close to my people. I want to save them better. I want to look for the challenges that I see in the area live in because Bulambuli was too big,” Hon Muloni Further said.
Wetaka Milton, district councilor for buginyanya, says they will support Hon Muloni because of the dedication and commitment of serving the people of Elgon North County.
He said the area grimples with may challenges of poor road network that contribute to poor service delivery, hence affecting the people.
Mwambu Alice, a resident, said they will support Hon. Irene Muloni in the General elections because, as women, they have benefited a lot from her leadership that empowers women.
Hon. Irene Muloni will face off the incumbent and the NRM party flager bearer Hon. Gerald Nangoli and others still at large.
