Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has deployed 1,100 field data collectors across the country to complete the data collection exercise for the Baseline Education Census 2025.

According to UBOS, the exercise will run from Monday October 27 to 30 October 2025, targeting all government primary schools in the sub-regions of Acholi, Bunyoro, Karamoja, Kigezi, Rwenzori, Tooro, and West Nile.

The initiative resumes following the end of the industrial action by government primary school teachers that had disrupted the third term.

The census aims to gather detailed data on learners, teachers, non-teaching staff, and school infrastructure. Information collected will include learners’ names, ages, nationalities, identification numbers, and any special needs; as well as teachers’ qualifications and institutional details such as operational status, license, and location.

Didacus Okoth, the UBOS Spokesperson urged head teachers, local government authorities, and the public to cooperate fully with the enumerators as the exercise aims at improving the management and planning of Uganda’s education sector.
