The Kayunga District Police have arrested a man named Kabunga Hannington for allegedly masquerading as a lawyer.

The arrest was made on October 27, 2025, at 10:45 am at the Kayunga Chief Magistrate’s Court.

According to investigations, Kabunga’s practicing certificate number on the Judiciary’s official website belongs to another individual, suggesting that he forged his certificate.

Further checks revealed that Kabunga has never been enrolled as an advocate.

According to Hellen Butoto, the Police spokesperson for Sezibwa Region, sources at the Kayunga Chief Magistrate’s Court indicate that the suspect has been representing clients in civil cases in Kayunga and Mukono, allegedly defrauding them in the process.

Butoto says his arrest is seen as a relief to members of the public who could have fallen victim to his fraudulent activities.

She adds that Kabunga faces charges of forgery and impersonation. The public is urged to come forward if they have been victimized by the suspect and to open up cases against him.
