Stanbic Bank Uganda on Wednesday, 5th November, 2025 donated equipment worth 100 million shillings to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
The donated items include mama kits, oxygen cylinders, and heavy-duty machines, aimed at supporting expectant mothers and improving healthcare services.
Mumba Kalifungwa, the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Uganda, stated that the bank’s donation is part of its effort to give back to the community.
He noted that the hospital had requested support earlier in the year, and the bank is fulfilling its pledge.
Stephen Obo, the director of Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation but emphasized that the hospital still requires more equipment.
He appealed to other organizations, stakeholders, and banks to support the hospital, which serves 16 districts in the Eastern region with a high patient load.
Hamuza Banja, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner taking industrial City commission, urged the hospital management to refer patients with minor illnesses to lower-level health centers to reduce congestion at the referral hospital, which he said should focus on serious cases.
