The Elgon Expo and Convention, themed “Explore Elgon Pamoja 2025,” is scheduled to take place in December, in the Bugisu region, aiming to promote tourism in the area and Western Kenya.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday at Courts View Hotel in Mbale city, Isaac Masumba, the chief organizer, revealed that the event will feature activities such as trekking, marathon, and hiking Mount Elgon, among others, from December 4th to 14th at Mbale Secondary School premises.
Masumba stated that the expo’s primary purpose is to promote tourism in the Bugisu region and Western Kenya, and to put the region on the world map.
John Honiwick from Elgon Trekking Services, a partner, emphasized that tourism can put the country on the world map, urging people to embrace it.
Esther Kuloba, another partner, said they expect the guest of honor to be the Speaker of Parliament and her counterpart from Kenya.
