BUDUDA

Mr. Patrick Mawululu, the Chairperson of the District Service Commission for Bududa, has denied allegations that he plotted to kill Brig. Gen. James Nambale.

He has demanded that the Brigadier produce evidence to support the claims or withdraw the statements and issue an apology, failure of which he will take legal action against him.

Mawululu made the remarks on Wednesday evening, 3rd December, 2025 during a press conference held at Mbale Courts View Hotel in Mbale City.

He was responding to a viral video clip in which Brig. Gen. Nambale alleged that Mawululu was planning to kill him.

Mawululu and Brig. Gen. Nambale are both residents and natives of Bududa District. However, Mawululu said that growing political tensions in the district have created a rift between them.

He explained that on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Brig. Gen. Nambale, while in Bukiga, Bufusa, Namasa Village at the home of the late Vincent Nabuyaka, falsely accused him of hiring goons from Mbale and Nairobi to kill him. Mawululu described the allegations as false and meant to tarnish his name.

“I am a peaceful, law-abiding citizen of good standing in Bududa, and I’ve never involved in any criminal activity,” Mawululu said.

He added that joining the army and attaining high rank should not be used as a tool to intimidate or threaten civilians.

Through his lawyers, Mawululu has called upon Brig. Gen. Nambale to stop making threats and to present evidence to authorities. He further warned that a serving army officer is not allowed to engage in partisan politics, saying such actions could damage public trust and stability.

Mawululu also defended his right to support any political candidate of his choice, including John Baptist Nambeshe the NUP flag bearer for Manjiya County MP Seat in Bududa District saying Nambeshe is his brother, stressing that no individual owns the district or has authority to intimidate others.

He concluded by urging Brig. Gen. Nambale to respect law and the people of Bududa, noting that the army exists to protect citizens, not to threaten them.

Getting a comment from Brig. Gen James Nambale was futile after not picking our calls.
