Soroti University Gears Up For 1st Graduation Ceremony

Preparations are in high gear in Soroti University as it is set to hold first graduation ceremony since its opening in 2019.

 

The historical event is set for 13 December, 2025 at the university Main Campus in Arapai in Soroti district marking six years of work in science based centres of academic excellence in Eastern Uganda.

 

The university spokesperson, Juma Yene says over 118 students will graduate across three classic programs.

 

According to the spokesperson, 53 students are going to graduate under Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery, 43 students in Bachelors of Nursing sciences and 22 students with Engineering in computer and electronic Engineering.

 

He said the ceremony will be presided over by the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Rtd Maj Jessica Rose Alupo Epel who will represent HE President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

 

 

Soroti University is a public, science and technology-focused university in Uganda, established by government in 2015 as the 9th public university to boost higher education, particularly in applied sciences for regional development.

 

It operates under the mandate to train competitive professionals, focusing on a “hands-on and minds-on” approach, aiming to be a hub for innovation and skilled workforce development in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040.

 

The university, located near Soroti town, admitted its first students in 2019 and is rapidly expanding its health and tech programs.
