JUST IN: South Africa Donates Eight Rhinos to Uganda Wildlife Authority

Uganda Wildlife Authority has received eight Rhinos from Munyawana Conservancy in KwaZulu, Natal South Africa, a donation to Uganda by African Parks.

 

The 4 females and 4 males were delivered to Entebbe Airport on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 and were officially received by the Director of Tourism Development, Dr. Basil Ajer on behalf of the Line Minister.

 

Dr. Ajer says the donation demonstrates Uganda’s growing credibility in in global wildlife conservation and Tourism development.

Ag. UWA-ED, Mr. Makombo John, the Commissioner for Conservation and Biodiversity Management, welcomed the arrival and emphasised the importance of dedicated care and long-term protection for these animals, marking this as an important moment for Uganda’s conservation journey.

 

Speaking on behalf of African Parks, the Operations and Logistics Manager, Martine Rickelton said the donation reflects African Parks long term commitment to supporting Rhino range states.

 

The eight were transported to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary where there are already over 40 Rhinos that have become a major tourist attractions.
