Hundreds of National Resistance Movement (NRM) village leaders from various sub-counties in Namisindwa district have demonstrated over party mobilization funds, claiming they received less money than expected.

The leaders, from sub-counties like Bukiabi, Namabya, Mukhuyu, and Bupoto, marched to the district offices today, Monday 15th December, 2025 demanding the balance of their funds.

They were given 300,000 shillings per village, with each leader receiving 10,000 shillings, which they deemed insufficient.

Sam Wandukwa, an NRM leader, stated that each village was supposed to receive 630,000 shillings.

Peter Wamotso added that they would not leave the district until their demands were met.

The leaders cited John Musila, Namisindwa county Member of Parliament and NRM flag-bearer, who allegedly announced on Elgon fm political talk shows known as “Baraza” on Saturday that each village would receive Shs630,000.

However, Charles Nasimolo, Namisindwa district NRM vice chairperson, condemned Musila’s statements, saying they were lies aimed at inciting the community.

He explained that the party pays 30 NRM village leaders 10,000 shillings each and 33 leaders from special interest groups with also 10,000 each.

He says village party leaders want to take all 630,000 by excluding village party special interest group leaders as stated in NRM guidelines from the headquarters.

Musila maintained that the village party leaders were right to protest, questioning why other districts received more funds.

By press time, NRM district vice Chairperson was busy in the field distributing money to sub counties which didn’t get but rioters were still at the district.
