RUKIGA: Driver, Turn-man, Conductor Die In Trinity Bus Accident

Police in Rukiga has embarked on investigations into a tragic accident that killed three people on spot and left several others injured that occurred in the early hours of Monday 15th December 2025, along Mbarara-Kabale Road.

 

The crash, which happened at around 2:20 a.m. at Bukinda in Rukiga District, involved Isuzu bus, registration number RAG597K, belonging to Trinity Bus Company in Rwanda.

 

According to SP Michael Kananura, Traffic Police Spokesperson, the bus was traveling from Rwanda to Kampala when the driver lost control, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a trench. He attributed the accident to over speeding.

 

The victims, including the conductor, turn man, and a passenger, identified as Habineza Alfred 30, Gadaffi and Lubwama John Herbert a resident of Kanyanya village in Kawempe Division Wakiso district died at the scene, while several others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention.

 

Police has also confirmed the death of Habiyaremye Ananias, 44 the bus driver and resident of Rwamagana district in Rwanda.

 

Kananura said the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the same hospital’s mortuary, and police investigation into the crash is ongoing.
