NAMISINDWA: NRM DEC Members Released on Police Bond as Shs37M is Recovered

Several Namisindwa District NRM District Executive Committee (DEC) members were on Thursday afternoon released on police bond after the full recovery of UGX 37 million that had been in their possession.

 

Those released include Nasimolo Charles – Vice Chairperson, Mukisa Peter – Secretary, Kimaku Cyrus – Finance Secretary, Samuel Masaba – Representative for Persons with Disabilities plus the Two Sub–County Chairpersons from Namisindwa Town Council and Bupoto

 

According to a source close to Police, the recovered funds were meant for payment to six sub-counties: Bupoto, Namisindwa Town Council, Namabya, Mukhuyu, Bumbo, and Lwakhakha Town Council.

 

By Friday morning, 19th December, 2025, police handed over the recovered cash to District Chairperson Aramazan Wabuko, who then delivered it to NRM Women’s League Chairperson Matuka Junic for onward disbursement. By Friday afternoon, Bupoto, Namisindwa Town Council, and Namabya had already received their funds.

 

Reports indicate that NRM Secretary General, Dr. Richard Todwong is expected to visit the district to decide the fate of the implicated DEC members.

 

While handing over the money, Junic Matuka apologized to the people of Bupoto and other affected communities on behalf of the DEC, assuring them that moving forward, all party funds will be handled and disbursed in accordance with procedure.
