MBALE CITY
Mbale Regional Referral Hospital has received Shs6 billion from government through the Ministry of Health to complete its surgical complex building.
The hospital’s director, Senior Consultant Physician, Emmanuel Obbo, confirmed this to our reporter on Wednesday, 11th February, 2026 saying the funds have already been released.
He says the whole building was budgeted at Shs22 billion for all the works planned for.
Dr. Obbo says the building is going to hold different departments including a modern Maternity Ward, Pediatric Ward, and Surgical Theater among others when accomplished reducing the current problem of space shortage.
The Commissioner of reproductive health in the ministry of health, Richard Mugayi says this is going to address the challenge of over congestion.
Mbale regional referral hospital serves Bugisu, Sebei, Teso among with a catchment population of over 4 million people.
