Man Remanded for Forging President Museveni’s Signature to ‘Appoint’ URC Managing Director

A man has been remanded to Luzira Prisons for allegedly forging President Museveni’s signature in a letter that purportedly appointed a one Mr. Nagwomu Alfred as Managing Director of the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC).

 

The suspect, Arinda Nicholas was arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11th February, 2026.

 

He was charged with offenses of forgery, uttering a false document, and obtaining money by false pretence and consequently remanded until 9th March 2026.

 

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, Arinda, together with another suspect still at large, fraudulently made a false document, namely, an appointment letter dated 4th December 2024 (Ref: PO/23) allegedly appointing Mr. Nagwomu Alfred as Managing Director of the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC).

 

The forged letter was purportedly signed by H.E. the President of Uganda, which was not true.

 

The accused further extorted over UGX 20 million from Mr. Nagwomu, alleging that the money would be used to secure the appointment.
