JUST IN! National Planning Authority Gets New Deputy Executive Director

National Planning Authority (NPA) has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Rogers Matte as its new Deputy Executive Director.

 

The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 by NPA on its X-Handle saying, “Heartiest congratulations to our very own Dr. Rogers Matte on his well-deserved promotion! We are all proud to work alongside you and look forward to your continued impact.”

 

Dr. Matte holds a PhD in Economics from Makerere University, a Master of Arts in Economic Policy and Planning, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

 

He formally served as a lecturer at Kyambogo University, and a District Economist/Planner for Kasese District before advancing to national level roles.

 

Dr. Matte also represented Ntoroko County as Member of Parliament between 2001 – 2006 and later worked at the Population Secretariat.

 

Most recently, he held the position of Senior Manager for Research and Development Performance at NPA while also representing the Authority on several government boards and Agencies.

 

He now deputizes, Dr. Joseph Muvawala (PhD) who is also a seasoned Economist.

 

National Planning Authority is a Government of Uganda agency responsible for comprehensive and integrated development planning. Also responsible for physical planning in Uganda.
