Tragic Accident Claims Life of 40-Year-Old Woman in Tororo

A fatal accident on the Tororo-Mbale highway on Easter Monday, 6th  April, 2026 has left residents of Tororo municipality in shock after a 40-year-old woman lost her life.

 

The victim, identified as Marrium Nur, is a resident of Malaba Town Council in Tororo district.

 

The accident occurred at the first roundabout along the Tororo -Mbale highway, involving a motor vehicle with registration numbers UBS 133F and UBS 615E, and an unidentified motorcycle, commonly known as Boda Boda.

 

According to Moses Johnson Mugwe, the Bukedi South Region police spokesperson, the chain of events leading to the tragic incident began when Marrium was traveling as a passenger on the motorcycle, and as they approached the roundabout, she noticed a trailer approaching rapidly.

 

In a panic, she jumped off the motorcycle, leaving the cyclist to continue forward and tragically, the trailer struck her, resulting into loss of her life at the scene.

 

Mugwe notes that the accident may have been caused by a disregard for road safety regulations.

 

He says investigations are underway to gather further details about the incident.

 

Mugwe urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent such tragedies in the future.
