MBALE CITY
Mbale City has partnered with Centenary Bank to clean the Central Market as part of efforts to improve hygiene and a clean environment.
During the cleaning exercise on Friday, 10th April, 2026, Centenary Bank joined Mbale City street cleaners in sweeping, mopping, and picking up rubbish around and inside the Mbale central market.
Edith Kababure Minambo, General Manager of Centenary Bank, says the bank is celebrating its customer week by giving back to the community.
She adds that the bank chose the central market due to its high customer traffic. Minambo says the bank will continue with other activities in Mbale City and Bugisu region.
Fred Wamimbi, Supervisor of Mbale City street cleaners, says Centenary Bank donated protective gear, including face masks, gloves, and brooms, which will aid their work.
Mbale City Deputy Town Clerk Jolly Hasoho urges other partners to join the effort, saying the city can’t manage alone.
Vendors at the market expressed happiness, saying the city had neglected cleaning the area for long.
