MBALE CITY

A delegation of over 100 Chinese investors, led by Uganda’s Ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha, have today Monday, 13th April, 2026 approached Mbale City authorities seeking opportunities to invest in agriculture and tourism.

Wonekha says the investors are impressed with Mbale City’s conducive environment and favorable conditions for investment.

Ambassador Wonekha argues that the Chinese investors have the necessary resources to invest in Uganda, particularly in Mbale City, and wanted to seek permission from city authorities before implementing their plans.

She adds that this will promote good relations with China and create jobs for young people in Mbale City like it is at Mbale industrial park.

Mbale City Deputy Town Clerk, Jolly Hasoho who welcomed the delegation at Mbale City Chambers, says the city is ready to receive investment plans for the Chinese.

She stated that Mbale City has ample space and land for investors, and is willing to cooperate to boost job opportunities for young people.

Hasoho highlighted that sectors like agriculture and tourism in Mbale City are untapped and ripe for investment.
