A Police Canine Unit, No. T/P 266 Navara has successfully led a team of police officers to a garage in Kasangati leading to the arrest of three suspects.
According to a police statement issued on Tuesday, 14th April, 2026, Navara was introduced to the home of a one Otto N. whose vehicle had been vandalized on the night of 10th April, 2026.
Otto had on 11th April, reported to Canan Police Post and requested for canine support to track down the vandals.
A team of police officers, accompanied by the canine unit, promptly responded to the scene, which had been well preserved and Navara successfully picked up a scent, and tracked it for approximately 400 metres.
The tracking led officers to Matovu Amon and into a garage, where Katongole Richard was found. Upon questioning, Katongole revealed that the garage belonged to Musaasizi Peter.
A subsequent search of the premises resulted in the recovery of several suspected stolen side mirrors and other motor vehicle parts believed to have been taken from different vehicles.
The suspects; Katongole Richard, Matovu Amon, and Musaasizi Peter are currently in custody as investigations continue, while efforts are ongoing to link the recovered items to their rightful owners.
