KAMPALA
The office of the Inspectorate of Government has arrested the Chief Administrative Officer for Nwoya district, Janepher Nantume Egunyu , and two others including Fred Kalisa(a farmer) in Gotokwara village, Lungulu Sub-county, Nwoya District, and Ronald Wanda, a businessman in Kiyindi, Buikwe District over abuse of office and theft.
According to the press statement dated April 27,2028, released last evening by the office of the Inspectorate of Government, the trio will appear and take plea at the Anti-Corruption Court today, April 28, 2026.
It’s alleged that between January 2023 and December 2024, Janepher Nantume Egunyu while performing her duties as Chief Administrative Officer, Nwoya District Local Government, did abuse authority of her office when she flouted the procedures of animal market establishment and went ahead to allow operation of an illegal market in Gotokwara Village, Lungulu Sub-county, Nwoya District, which was prejudicial to the interests of Nwoya district Local Government .
It’s further alleged between the same period, Fred Kalisa and Ronald Wanda, while managing an animal market in Gotokwara Village, Lungulu Sub-county, Nwoya District, stole Twenty Million Six Hundred Fifty Five Thousand Shillings (20,655,000) belonging to Nwoya District Local Government.
