The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is establishing Tree nursery beds in order to restore degraded landscapes and securing a greener, more resilient future for Bugisu region.

In a statement issued today, Thursday, April 30, 2026, NEMA says Tree Nursery establishment is underway in Manafwa District as part of its ongoing efforts to restore the Mt. Elgon area.

“Across Bugisu and Sebei, NEMA is setting up community-based nurseries to supply free, high-quality seedlings to organised groups and local communities,” reads NEMA’s statement in part.

This initiative is implemented under the GEF-funded Mt. Elgon Project, with NEMA acting on behalf of the Government of Uganda; empowering communities to take the lead in rebuilding degraded landscapes and securing a greener, more resilient future.
