The Kiira regional police command has warned against attempts to interfere with swearing in of the President, MPs and local government leaders.
The Kiira regional Joint Operations Command (Region JOC) meeting held on Wednesday, May 6, at Civil Service College confirmed full readiness to secure the swearing in of President H.E YK Museveni on May 12 and subsequently other elected leaders before, during and after phases.
The RPC SSP Charles Nsaba chaired the meeting co-chaired by the RCC Jinja City, Salim Komakech and the cantonment commander Busoga sub region, Brig Gen Emmanuel Kanyesigye.
Among the key security aspects thoroughly discussed included full protection of all VVIPs, VIPs, crowd control, access control, routes security, emergency response teams like fire rescue services, medical services, safety drills by all security forces in the region, 24 hour CCTV surveillance, intelligence sweeps, interagency security coordination and collaboration, public sensitization, evidence based monitoring and evaluation, terrorism and all crimes generally, profiling all guests sleeping in hotels and guesthouses, human rights, among others.
The RPC SSP Charles Nsaba in a spirituality connotation to the meeting, quoted 1Corithians 14:40 that talks about decency and orderliness. He called upon all officers to ensure that everything before, during and after the swearing in of the President and other elected leaders takes place in proper and orderly manner to avoid any disruptive tendencies.
He further stated that intelligence led operations, motorcycle squad patrols, community policing must continue so as to maintain public safety and security.
The cantonment commander Busoga sub region Brig Gen Emmanuel Kanyesigye strongly warned against individuals who masquerade as army officers in uniforms with fake IDs and documents saying they must face the law without fear or favor to avoid destabilizing Busoga.
The RCC Jinja City Salim Komakech appealed to the city town clerk that all venues for swearing in of local leaders must be in full coordination with the city or district security committees for proper and fit harmonious purposes.
He called upon all local government elected leaders to unite and promote transformational leadership and governance. He assured that all the Trans- Africa highway stretching from Kampala to Malaba border will remain open but under full time surveillance of the integrated highway patrol vehicles to constantly monitor and prevent accidents and highway robberies ahead of the swearing in ceremonies and Uganda Martyrs day of June 3.
In attendance were the regional and divisional heads of departments (HODs), DPCs, all OCs of main and sub stations and posts plus sister forces.
