MBALE DISTRICT

Angry residents of Wakutuma village, Musese parish, Bunambutye Sub County in Mbale District have lynched a yet to be identified suspected cattle thief.

The residents lynched the suspect on Tuesday morning, 12th May, 2026 after he was caught with one of the six stolen cattle from a kraal of one resident identified as James.

According to Samuel Shitsangi, one of the area residents, unknown people broke into James’ kraal the previous night and went away with six animals.

He says locals carried out a search by tracing tracks of the cattle until they discovered one animal in a nearby bush with the unidentified man suspected to be between 29 to 36 years of age.

Martin Wabusani, also a local resident, says the suspect was caught with one animal, but couldn’t account for the others.

He says angry locals then beat him to death and tied the stolen animals to his body.

By press time, the body was still at scene and police hadn’t been informed of the incident.
