Fatal Accident in Bugweri Claims Life of 7-Year-Old Juvenile

Police in Bugweri have embarked on investigations into a hit and run fatal accident in which a 7- year- old juvenile identified as Okiror Elvis perished, in Busesa Town Council. The accident involved a Tata lorry reg no. UBQ 867X and an unidentified Fuso vehicle.

 

ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional police spokesperson for Busoga East says that the Tata Lorry in question had parked facing Bugiri and was loading sugarcane. In the process, an unidentified Fuso motor vehicle overtook the stationary lorry, before knocking the child who was crossing the road to pick cane from the lorry. The Fuso proceeded on without stopping.

 

Upon the occurrence, the driver identified as Aliru Yasin drove the Tata lorry in an attempt to flee from the scene of the accident.

 

However, the Police patrol team pursued the lorry and intercepted it from Butaba village towards Bugiri and took it to Busesa Police parking yard.

 

By press time, the body had been transferred to lganga Hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.
