The newly sworn- in Masaka District Woman Legislator, Justine Nameere has been arrested by unidentified plain clothed security operatives. She was arrested on Friday May 15, 2026, after being sworn-in parliament.
It’s reported she was intercepted by mean looking men who were armed and forcefully whisked her way in their van without a clear justification for her arrest.
The Greater Masaka police spokesperson, Twaha Kasirye said he has no information regarding her arrest or alleged abduction.
Nameere’s Hubby Speaks Out On The Arrest
Hon. Nameere’s hubby Hamza Kennedy Nsubuga told the press that he narrowly survived being arrested together with his lover currently detained at an unknown detention facility.
Nsubuga said he fled the scene moments before the operation took place so as to remain safe in order to take care of their children.
“I managed to escape at the time my wife was arrested. I would have stayed and saved her, but I had to flee away to go and take care of our children,” Hamza explained.
Nsubuga alleges that his sweet wife was allegedly whisked away by armed men believed to be UPDF soldiers who were travelling in a van registration number UA 857 AG. He revealed that arrest occured at Brovad hotel in Masaka city where Hon. Nameere’s supporters had gathered to celebrate her swearing-in ceremony.
Following the arrest of his wife, Nsubuga has asked President Yoweri Museveni to intervene, saying his wife played a pivotal role in canvassing votes for the ruling party in Masaka.
Nsubuga further alleges that during the arrest of his wife, chaos erupted and in the process three people were severely injured during the scuffle. He also claims that Nameere’s bodyguard was disarmed while attempting to resist the arrest.
Nsubuga blamed cops who had been deployed to provide security at the celebration venue of failing to intervene as the armed men took away his wife.
