The Khadi of Tororo District, Sheikh Nooh Abdul Malik Koire, has called on political and cultural leaders, as well as the wider Muslim community, to embrace unity and reconciliation as the foundation for development in the district.
Addressing hundreds of Muslims gathered at Masjid Noor for Eid prayers on Wednesday, 28th May, 2026, the Khadi said disunity among leaders was holding back progress and urged them to set aside personal and political differences.
“Division among leaders slows progress,” Sheikh Koire said. “I urge you to put aside differences and work together for the common good of the district.”
The Khadi used the Eid platform to caution Muslims against practices he said were undermining faith and community wellbeing, including shirk acts such as witchcraft, drug abuse, and alcoholism.
He further encouraged parents to prioritize education by enrolling their children in Islamic-founded schools, arguing that learning grounded in strong moral values was key to raising responsible citizens.
“Education combined with strong moral values is essential for raising responsible citizens and securing the future of the community,” he told the congregation.
Sheikh Koire’s message of reconciliation and moral renewal resonated with worshippers, many of whom said it offered a timely reminder as the district seeks to advance socially and economically.
The Eid prayers at Masjid Noor drew a large turnout, with community members joining in prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Tororo and across Uganda.
