Police in Entebbe Police have launched investigations into an aggravated robbery in which armed robbers successfully robbed Shs24 million from a Sales team attached to Sawan Distributors Ltd at gunpoint.
The incident happened on Monday June 1, 2026, along Kasenyi Road in Buyinja Zone – Nkumba Bukolwa in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, revealed that three armed assailants who were riding a motorcycle attacked a sales team from Sawan Distributors Ltd and robbed them cash estimated at Shs 24 million, an IFRIS machine, and other personal items.
“During the incident, a female sales agent sustained injuries and was taken to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital for treatment,” Afande Owesigire revealed.
Owoyesigyire said following the incident police responded to the scene, recovered two cartridge casings, documented the scene, recorded witness statements, and has since commenced investigations to identify and arrest the suspects.
Bystanders said the sales team was robbed after their Toyota Tata Truck Registration number UBG 179D, which was moving from the Kasenyi landing site direction towards the Kampala- Entebbe Highway, made a stopover at a wholesale shop in Buyinja zone, to deliver merchandize at Kigongo’s business outlet.
“They had come to distribute merchandise to Kigongo’s shop after which the woman and driver retreated back to the car. A boda boda from Abaita Ababiri came and parked in front of the car, a man pointed a gun at the driver before the passenger jumped off to snatch a bag from the woman,” says an eyewitness.
Police further revealed that during the incident, a woman identified as Prossy Nakimbugwe reportedly held onto the bag tightly prompting one of the thugs to cut her leg, after which she released it and the suspects currently at large made away with it on a motorcycle.
