The Ugandan media industry is mourning the death of Joseph Sseruwoza, a Parliament reporter and political talk show host at BBS Terefayina, whose passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from journalists, politicians and viewers across the country.

Sseruwoza was widely known within political and parliamentary reporting circles for his coverage of legislative affairs, governance debates and national political developments. Colleagues described him as a calm and professional journalist who dedicated much of his career to informing the public on issues discussed within Parliament and the country’s broader political landscape.

His work at BBS Terefayina — a Buganda Kingdom-owned Luganda television station that has become influential in political and current affairs broadcasting in Uganda — placed him among notable media personalities covering governance and public affairs.

Over the years, Sseruwoza reportedly built strong relationships within Uganda’s political and media communities through his field reporting, interviews and moderation of political talk shows. Fellow journalists say he was respected for his ability to engage political actors from across the divide while maintaining professionalism in often heated political discussions.

News of his death began circulating Friday morning, 19TH June, 2026 prompting tributes on social media from members of the media fraternity and viewers who followed his work on television.

Several journalists described his passing as a significant loss to Uganda’s parliamentary reporting community, a sector that plays a central role in covering legislative accountability, governance and national policy debates.

His death also renews conversations around the demanding nature of political journalism in Uganda, where reporters covering Parliament and national affairs often work under intense pressure and fast-moving news cycles.

By Friday morning, official details regarding the cause of death had not yet been publicly released by family members or close associates. Burial and funeral arrangements were still being organized.

Joseph Sseruwoza joins a growing list of Ugandan journalists and media practitioners whose contributions helped shape public discourse through political reporting and broadcast journalism.

He will be remembered for his dedication to journalism, commitment to public information and contribution to Uganda’s media industry.
