Three suspects have been arrested over theft of guardrail components along the Gulu–Kitgum Highway.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Works and Transport today, Monday, 22nd June, 2026 saying the operation by its team led to the recovery of 50 stolen guardrail components

“Our teams have recovered 50 stolen guardrail components and confirmed the arrest of three suspects for vandalising road guardrails along the Gulu–Kitgum Highway,” reads the statement.
According to Police, the suspects used an adjustable spanner to unfasten guardrail connections and stole road infrastructure assets between Abera Bridge in Unyama Sub-county and Aswa River Bridge in Paicho Sub-county between 27 and 29 May 2026.
The suspects are in custody, while investigations are ongoing to establish the extent of the damage and the value of the stolen infrastructure.
