A photo has been shared on X, formerly Twitter showing an obviously frail ex-Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among with bandaged feet and on drip.
The image clearly shows that Anita is receiving the treatment in a home environment, a development that is eliciting public empathy.
On Tuesday, 23rd June, this publication ran a story titled, “Ex-Speaker, Anita Among Battles Blood Clot, Unable to Walk,” but with a disclaimer that report had not been verified by official sources.
However, the photo leak confirms that the ex-Speaker is indeed ill and may need urgent expert attention.
The news of Anita’s sickness was first broken by ex-Kampala Central Legislator, Muhammad Nsereko, who revealed that former Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Annet Among, is critically ill after suffering a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) that has left her unable to walk.
Nsereko made the revelation on June 22, 2026, during a live TikTok broadcast on his personal channel, and he condemned the treatment the former speaker is receiving.
“It’s terrible what I have seen, the legs are all swollen, what happened to compassion in the world, on one side Lukwago is being hunted for not working with them, on the other hand those who have worked with them are also being oppressed” Hon. Nsereko expressed concern.
Anita Among, who is currently under investigation by the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), over allegations of grand corruption, abuse of office, illicit enrichment, and money laundering, remains confined under heavily armed house arrest at her upscale Nakasero residence.
Among’s trouble stems from a presidential directive which directed joint security forces to launch coordinated raids on her multiple luxury residences across Nakasero, Kigo, and Ntinda, as well as her country home in Bukedea.
Meanwhile, Parliament has not yet issued a statement regarding Anita Among’s deteriorating health condition.
