KAMPALA
Police in Kawempe have arrested Katongole Anthony, commonly known as “Chicken Chicken,” in connection with the alleged malicious damage of a motor vehicle following a viral social media video.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday, 25th June, 2026 after footage circulated online allegedly showing him vandalising a Toyota Mark X registration number UBM 696S belonging to Sali Sharif, also known as “Shawa Shawa.”
Police said the incident attracted widespread public attention after the video was shared across several social media platforms, prompting investigations that led to the suspect’s arrest.
“The suspect identified as Katongole Anthony alias ‘Chicken Chicken’ was arrested in connection with malicious damage to a motor vehicle,” Kawala stated.
Authorities say investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the motive behind the alleged destruction of the vehicle.
The Uganda Police Force has since urged members of the public to resolve disputes through lawful means and avoid acts of violence or destruction of property.
Malicious damage to property is a criminal offence under Ugandan law and can attract prosecution upon conviction.
Police have not yet disclosed whether the suspect has formally been charged in court as inquiries continue.
