The LCV Chairpersons from the six districts of Bugisu region have constituted a full Imbalu committee that will oversee all Imbalu activities.
According to the arrangements, Imbalu is scheduled to be launched on 1st August 2026 at the Mutoto Cultural Site in the Industrial City Division, Mbale City.
The formation of the Imbalu committee follows resolutions made on Thursday, 9th July, 2026 by Bugisu leaders. The resolutions were presented to government through Henry Tumukunde, the Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, during a meeting held at Mbale Secondary School.
These resolutions were reached following the long-standing conflict between Inzu Ya Masaba and Inzu Ya Bugisu over who has the legal mandate to organise the circumcision ceremony at Mutoto.
To avoid bloodshed, leaders from the Bugisu region met and agreed that the district local governments in Bugisu take over the organisation of Imbalu, and that the two warring parties be sidelined.
The steering committee is as follows; Chairperson- Kosea Kigai Kimon LCV Manafwa, Vice Chairperson- Godfrey Natubu LCV Bududa, General Secretary- Emma Bwayo LCV Namisindwa, Treasurer- Tonny Wamagale LCV Mbale, Advisor- Nabende Guga LCV Sironko, Chief Whip- Simon Peter Wanazofu and Sam Mafabi for Mbale city as member.
Emma Bwayo, said they are committed to ensuring the ceremony runs smoothly. He added that the committee will visit Mutoto to inspect the venue before making further plans.
