Retired Buyende Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Ogwang Okello Godfrey together with the current Principal Human Resource Officer- Ahimbisibwe Denis Biine have been remanded Luzira Prisons.
The officials who were remanded on Monday 10th August 2026 are accused of causing government a financial loss of Shillings 30, 608, 978 when they continuously approved payments and failed to delete dead staff from the salary payroll, who had passed on since July/2020 to December/2023.
The deceased Staff include a Teacher -Kawesa Charles Nsadha, an Education Assistant- Tasamba Vincent, Headteacher – Ibanda James and another Education Assistant- Mugweri Kiganira Francis.
The accused persons also face charges of Neglect of Duty and Prosecution’s Twongirwe Bruce from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, said the accused persons knew that their acts would cause the Government the said loss.
Ogwang Okello Godfrey 60 residing in Lira City and Ahimbisibwe Denis Biine 54 a resident of Central Division Kamuli Municipality were produced before the Anti-Corruption Court Magistrate Esther Asiimwe, from where they denied the charges of Causing financial loss and Neglect of Duty.
Magistrate Asiimwe then sent the duo on remand at Luzira prison until Tuesday 11th August 2026 for bail application.
