KAMPALA
The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has granted bail to the interdicted Director of Communications at Parliament, Mr. Chris Ariko Obore, and six other officials in their alleged embezzlement of more than Shs30 Billions.
While granting the group bail today, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, court presided over by Justice Michael Elubu noted that Obore’s bail was set at Shs30 million cash, ordered to deposit his passport and land title, and sureties bonded at Shs300 million each (not cash).
Mureebe Muhanuka, Rajab Kaaya and Emmanuel Okwi were each granted Shs 20 million cash bonds; Daniel Adiro and Leonard Okema, Shs35 million each; and Vincent Tebata, Shs30 million.
The group’s sureties were each bonded Shs 300 million and report to the registrar on the first Monday of every month.
The interdicted officials were committed to the High Court last month, after prosecution informed court, that the Inspector General of Government (IGG) had concluded investigations into charges of causing financial loss.
The group is charged with multiple counts of embezzlement contrary to Section 18(a) and (i) (iii) of the Anti-Corruption Act, Cap 116.
