Police in Kiboga district has arrested Maniriho Baseme, aged 27 years, a casual labourer and resident of Kiryamuli village, Nakasozi parish Nakasozi subcounty in Kiboga district for cutting to death Ssengaga Vincent aged 47 years, a prominent farmer of the same residence.
On Monday 21st September, 2026, the deceased hired Maniriho Baseme and Ssenteza to pick coffee in his shamba at a fee of Shs20000 (twenty thousand shillings).
At around 4:00pm after picking coffee, the hired workers started demanding for their payment which the deceased never had at that time. Maniriho decided to take a full tin of coffee for payment of Shs20000.
SSP Lameka Kigozi, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson said the deceased disagreed and stopped him from taking his coffee. This led to a bitter verbal attack from Maniriho which angered the deceased.
The deceased got a stick to beat the suspect and the suspect pulled out a panga from his trouser and cut the deceased in the neck and left hand causing serious injuries on him.
He was rushed to Nakasozi Health Center II for first aid. His condition worsened and was referred to Kiboga main hospital but passed on before reaching the hospital at around 6:00PM.
A report was made at Nakasozi police by Ssenyonga Hamis, a resident of Kiryamuli village Nakasozi subcounty. Police dispatched a homicide team to the scene with a canine which helped track the suspect leading to his arrest. Body of the deceased was conveyed to Kiboga hospital morgue pending postmortem examination.
