Police Anti-Stock Theft Unit is introducing new Operation Uniform of  it’s forces in their ongoing fight against increasing cattle theft in the area.
In a bid to mitigate the increasing rates of cattle theft in karamoja and it’s neighbouring districts, the Uganda Police Force has informed the general public of it’s plan to introduce a new kind of uniform for the Anti Stock Theft Unit of the Uganda Police Force.
ASTU is the unit which is directly charged with the responsibility of mitigating cattle thefts and mostly operates in Karamoja.
According to AIP Longole Mike the Ag. PRO for Mt Moroto the uniform thats’ in it’s final process will help in easy identification and to suit the environment where its forces are operating in.

”The change in uniform will take effect from next week and the uniform formerly used by the ASTU will now only be used by Police personnel attached to the Field Force unit, FFU as this is to encourage members of the public not to be alarmed when they notice the change.” he said in a statement.
