The National Unity Platform supporters in Namisindwa district have accused government officials of excluding them from government programs and being threatened by security operatives.

The supporters raised this during the launch of their district offices at Mufutu trading center in Magale Town Council yesterday 29th June 2022.

Fred Wabomba, the Namisindwa district National Unity platform chairperson says that none of their supporters has been registered for the Parish Development Model.

He added that they are denied other government programs like Operation Wealth Creation among others due to being supporters of NUP.

Wabomba also says that security operatives like Fredrick Bango the Namisindwa district Resident District Commissioner, GISO, PISO, VISO and police have gone ahead threatening them with arrests any time over unknown reasons.

Suzan Nambuya, also a NUP supporter in Namisindwa, says that being denied government programs and threats is a plan by district leaders to make them feel frustrated and leave NUP, which is not going to happen.

She condemned the manner in which these government officials are behaving saying they should know that Uganda is a multiparty country meaning everybody has a right to support his or her own party.

Braka Mulokwa, also a NUP supporter, says that opening of the office is going to help them in mobilizing more support among the remaining youths such that they can strengthen their party in the district.

John Baptist Nambeshe, the NUP Vice President Eastern Region, opposition chief whip also MP for Manjiya County in Bududa district condemned what the district leaders are doing saying that government programs are supposed to be given to all Ugandans.

He adds that it’s not only NRM supporters who are Ugandans or tax payers entitled to benefit from government programs.

Nambeshe urged NUP supporters to remain calm and continue doing their daily work legally saying nobody will arrest them but just threatening with the aim of frustrating them against the NUP party.

However, Fredrick Bango when contacted dismissed accusations saying that no security personnel has ever threatened any NUP supporter in the district. He challenged anybody with such evidence to report to police or his office.

He adds that their officers are currently moving at all parishes registering everybody without considering party affiliation such that they can benefit from Parish Development Model.
