SAD! Soroti Market Vendor Raped, Stabbed To Death

A vendor at Soroti City’s Modern Main Market has been raped and stabbed to death by thugs yet to be identified by police.

 

The deceased identified as Esther Akuka a 25 year old woman and resident of Majengo Ward, Soroti City Western Division met her gruesome death on the night of 17th August 2022.

 

SP Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga police spokesperson said investigations are going on and the case of rape and murder has been registered VIDE CRB 272/2022 at Soroti CPS.

 

Ageca said the matter was reported at around 12:30PM on the 18th day of August 2022 by Ogaram Emmanuel, the chairman LC1 Akisim ward, Eastern Division within Soroti city.

 

He said Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was last seen at her normal duty in the market at around 7:30 PM when she retired from work.

 

“The deceased was advised to use a boda boda since it was late and raining and that her employer, a one Akwii Sarah also allegedly gave her transport fare of two thousand shillings only (2000/=). The deceased decided to walk home. She was waylaid during the same night as she walked home, at Golf course ground at yet be identified time and circumstances.” Ageca said in a press statement.

 

Ageca revealed further that preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was raped and then killed by stabbing.

 

By press time, the body had been taken to the city mortuary in Nakatunya pending postmortem to ascertain the death.

 

“Police detectives, and crime of scene officers have visited the scene, they also introduced to the scene of crime the canine unit, whereof it led to the arrest and apprehension of two suspects to help with the investigation,” he said.

 

The two suspects are Joseph Emimu a 28-year-old driver of Lale, Agule cell, Lale Sub County in Soroti district and Sam Emwoyu a male adult of 26 years, resident in Tubur sub-county in Soroti district.
