Bugisu Leaders urged to embrace Government Programs to foster Development

Local Leaders at all levels in Bugisu have been urged to put aside political differences and put all their energy into lobbying and supporting projects which will uplift household income.

Mr Kefa Mafumo the Assistant Private Secretary to H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of the Republic of Uganda made the call yesterday.

Mr Mafumo says intrigue and badmouthing of top leaders and government projects, especially on social media and radio talk shows have cost the region opportunities to improve livelihoods.

Mr Mafumo, the former Mbale District Youth Chairperson says it is high time leaders focused on their priorities and gave direction to their electorates

Mr Mafumo’s call comes at the time when a section of Bamasaaba has started castigating the Minister in charge of Karamoja affairs, Mrs Mary Goretti Kitutu, especially on her role in the just concluded Imbalu launch.

Mr Mafumo says there is a need for Bagisu, especially young people to protect and promote leaders who have done tremendous work for the sub-region.

He explained that such baseless attacks only taint the name of our own leaders before appointing authority.

Mr Emma Bwayo, a Male Youth Councilor for Namisindwa blamed majority leaders for deliberately relegating young people to the dining room from the kitchen where everything is cooked from.

He explained that most young people need opportunities for them to thrive but instead some leaders enjoy using them for their own benefits.
