SOROTI: Police in Soroti West division is holding a 23-year-old primary teacher identified as Mr David Ogwang over allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl.
Ogwang is a teacher of Rise and Shine nursery and primary school situated in the Western division within Soroti City.
It is alleged that on 06 September at around 01:00 am, Ogwang went and picked the victim from her recognized residential home in Aloet Akum cell A Eastern division Soroti city and brought her to the teacher’s quarters at Rise and Shine nursery and primary school, where he had carnal knowledge of her, well knowing she was a minor.
He thereafter took her back home at around 04:00 am after having committed the crime.
And on the morning of 7 September, the Victim was interrogated by her parents about where she had been throughout the night.
“And the girl confessed she had been with the teacher in his house, she also went ahead to narrate what had happened,” said a witness who asked for anonymity.
Mr Oscar Gregory Ageca, the east Kyoga police spokesperson confirmed police was holding the teacher [Mr Ogwang] after they rescued him from a mob that wanted to lynch him over the act.
“Yes, we are detaining Mr Ogwang here at Soroti central police station under the CRB 272/2022 of Soroti CPS,” said Mr Ageca. Ends
