Farmers in Eastern Uganda have every reason to smile now after Uganda Farmers Federation introduced Y Pay technology to enable them to buy and sell their agricultural products.

Y-Pay offers an easier, faster way to pay for selling and buying agricultural products, it is an App that was developed by Uganda farmer’s federation to be installed on the smartphones or computers of farmers.

While speaking during the training of farmers about how to use the App at Court View hotel located in Mbale city over the weekend, Mr Milton Chebet who represented the executive director of Uganda farmer’s federation d the App is going to help farmers to use in searching where to get quality products like fertilizers, seeds among others and good market where to sell their products.

He explained that once properly applied, the App is a faster way to pay for parking, search for your location and make the payment in a matter of seconds.

“The App is going to address problems like losses which farmers have been making, like buying fake inputs and lack of good market where to sell their products,” said Mr Chebet.

Mr Mustafa Adukana from Bukedea Fronasa farmer’s federation expressed his happiness with the digital technology saying that this is going to address the problems of the farmers and going to save time during farming work.

Mr Levi Kakala, a farmer from Bududa urged the government to install processing factories in areas where they grow lots of perishable crops like bananas, and tomatoes such that they can process or add value to the products for sale.

Ms Irene Simiyu the Mbale district production officer urged farmers to embrace the technology saying that this is the only way of averting losses that farmers have been making in buying fake inputs. Ends
