Police has confirmed that five cattle traders died on the spot in last night’s fatal motor accident that occurred at Awoja Bridge, a few kilometers from Soroti City.
According to SP Ageca Oscar Gregg, the Police PRO East Kyoga in a press statement released today’s morning, the five died on the spot, five are in critical condition while three sustained minor injuries.
According to preliminary findings, the accident occurred on Wednesdays’ night, 26th October, 2022 at 08:00pm at Awoja along Soroti- Mbale road involving a motor vehicle UAN 443J, a FUSO lorry that was coming from Kotido loaded with cattle.
SP Ageca says the fuso truck was over speeding and eventually lost control thus overturning at a bend killing five people instantly.
He says the other critically injured were rushed to Soroti regional referral hospital and three others also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The territorial traffic police of Ngora district registered the fatal accident vide TAR 76/2022.
Ageca also said in today’s press statement that the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Ngora Fredda Carr hospital for postmortem and claiming by their loved ones.
“The motor Vehicle is still at the scene pending towing,” Ageca said.
