President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni comes around as a man with many surprises.

Yesterday Sunday 25th April 26, 2021, President Museveni who is still meeting NRM MPs elect interacted with daughters of former President, Idi Amin Dada and Late Major General, David Oyite Ojok.

It is no secret that Museveni fought alongside others to oust the then President Idi Amin Dada. After Amin’s fall in 1979, Museveni was part of the government that organized the 1980 general elections which he participated in and lost.

Calling the elections rigged, Museveni ran to Luwero to start a protracted bush war that brought him to power in 1986. At the time he was in the bush, the man who made his life very hard was David Oyite Ojok, the then Army Chief of Staff at the rank of Major General. It is widely believed that it was the untimely death of Oyite in 1983, that the NRA managed to regroup.

But yesterday, Dr. Aate Sharifah Taban Amin, granddaughter of former President Idi Amin Dada was all praises for President Museveni. Dr. Aate is the woman MP for Koboko district.

“From his Excellency, I have experienced Love, fatherhood; He forgave my father who was a rebel, brought us back home, gave us a house, education and today I can call myself a doctor,” an obviously overwhelmed Dr. Aate said in a speech that sent Museveni beaming.

“I don’t know what to say enough to thank you, but all I can say is thank you for being a father to me,” she concluded.

That speech made Museveni happy to the extent that he followed it up with a tweet:

“….In Kyankwanzi, we prayed together with Dr. Aate Sharifah Taban Amin, granddaughter of former President Idi Amin Dada (late), and Ms. Auma Linda Agnes, the daughter of the Late David Oyite Ojok. It was a wonderful reunion with these daughters of mine.”

On Monday 26th April 2021, President Museveni tweeted again saying NRM’s tolerance is the reason Ugandans are not refugees in the world.

“There are no Ugandan refugees, they are all here. Ugandans are out there abusing me, telling lies about me, but they are here because we are so willing to work even with those that are our enemies,” he said.
