Robert Kabushenga, the former Chief Executive Officer at the State owned New Vision has handed over office to Don Wanyama.
The handover that was largely ceremonial took place on Tuesday 13th April 14, 2021 at the New Vision offices, Kampala.
Earlier in the day, Kabushenga congratulated Wanyama in a tweet.
“@nyamadon congratulations on getting one of the best jobs in Uganda. All the best !!”
Kabushenga resigned as Managing Director/CEO of New Vision on Friday January 29, 2021.
In an email to staff Kabushenga explained his decision, which he said the board had agreed to.
“This is to let you know that for personal reasons I have asked the Board for an early retirement and this has been accepted,” he wrote.
Kabushenga explained that he would oversee a 90-day transition, as requested by the Board, before moving on.
“I am proud of the success we achieved and the impact we have had in society. This was possible because we worked together as a team. For me, it was an absolute honor and pleasure to have done so,” he explained.
Late last year, rumours were all over that Kabushenga had been fired. So this letter from Kabushenga according to insiders is more of a resignation than early retirement.
After the handover yesterday, Kabushenga wished his successor the best.
“So the man himself @nyamadon trying out “the chair” of Managing Director/CEO at @newvisionwire. For me it is time to go. Thank you & good bye!” Kabushenga tweeted at 1:57PM on Tuesday 13th April 2021.
