SOROTI
A rejected Soroti man has hacked his wife to death using a sharp panga.
The suspect identified as Osana Martin, a husband to the deceased Achom Rebecca, committed the heinous act on Tuesday evening, 18th May 2021.
According to the area LCI of Ojingai Village, Kelimu Parish Kyere Sub County Serere district, Echomu Stephen, the suspect murdered his wife Achom Rebecca 21 years on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Echomu alleges that the deceased who left her marital home in Asuret after having a domestic disagreement was murdered last night by her husband who had followed her to their ancestral home in Ojingai village at about 7:00 PM.
He added that the suspect was hosted but refused to eat but later on went to a neighbor’s home where he was received and was served food.
Echomu further added that the suspect after being hosted from the neighbor’s home came back to the in-law and tried to settle the matter.
However the deceased refused to attend, a decision that he believes prompted the suspect to pick the panga to cut his wife several times on the back and head killing her instantly.
When contacted for a comment, the East Kyoga Police Mouthpiece, Ageca Oscar confirmed the incident saying a team led by the district CID officer Serere visited the scene, retrieved the body for postmortem and the matter is under investigation so that the suspect is arraigned before the courts of law.
“We therefore inform the public that the suspect is on the run and any information leading to his arrest will help in the administration of justice and that we criticize all acts of violence against women. We also acknowledge and appreciate the restraint of not retaliating practiced by the family and Clan of the Victim of this senseless crime,” said Ageca.
